At the end of July every year Andre Bocelli entertains in the most wonderful of settings. Near his home town set amongst the rolling Tuscan countryside is the serene Teatro del Silenzio. The teatro is an open air amphitheatre in a rural, surreal, mystical like area where Andrea grew up.
As the sun sets over the Tuscan hills the famous tenor enters the stage his 2 hour performance has the audience in awe. His infectious energy, his commanding beautiful voice and the environment all become one. Senses are heightened, ones heart beats faster and a feeling of peace and euphoria is felt throughout the body. The summer evening is filled with beautiful music in an area that otherwise is perfectly silent.
This concert and setting is really a beautiful experience and one which if you are fortunate to have the opportunity you should attend.
The format of the show alternates each year between opera and his concert repertoire, famous guests accompany him on stage. This year (22) the concert will be held on 28th July.
The concert raises funds for The Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF)which has 2 programs
“Break the Barriers” combats poverty by supporting and promoting projects that provide assistance to citizens of developing countries and/or those in situations of poverty, illness, and with complex social issues that stunt or reduce their quality of life.
The CHALLENGES PROGRAM brings together world-class experts to find innovative solutions to help people cope with their disabilities/discomfort and overcome limits imposed by them. Thus, this program is done with the development of projects in the fields of scientific, technological research and social innovation.
The Bocelli family have for many generations produced some superb wines, they have wineries in their home region and have associations with wineries in some of the most renowned regions including Montepulciano and Montalcino. My preference is the Sangiovese and Nobile di Montepulciano.
